WHAT AUSTRALIA NEEDS NOW... AS TOLD BY WORLD'S TOP MANAGERS..

Did you read in The Weekend Australian last weekend what 3 top CEO's said about Australia's future?

Out here for the Olympics, Bill Gates (Microsoft CEO), Jack Welch (GE CEO) and Carly Fiorina of Hewlett Packard told Robert Gottliebsen Australia could have a NEW WAVE OF PROSPERITY, a much higher dollar, higher investment from overseas and lower interest rates if we only tapped into the BRAINPOWER OF OUR PEOPLE more systematically...

LETS NOT BECOME AN ECONOMIC BACKWATER - BRAINPOWER MEANS CATALYZING INNOVATION

Jack Welch said 'Australia has the natural resources and brains....' But we needed to harness that brainpower and use the power of the Internet to keep cutting costs and increasing productivity.

He said the productivity improvements of countries and companies had only just started and Australia had better become more proactive in harnessing the brainpower of its people and match global best practices or be left further behind as a high interest rate laden economic backwater.

World Bank boss James Wolfensohn warned that Australia needs to wake up to what makes nations wealthy in the 21st century: new ideas.

'The strong US Dollar causes pain, but the reality for Australia is that you've got to compete. I agree with US Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan that investment in research and development and entrepreneurship is the single biggest factor in the strength of the US economy.'

GE have invested heavily in research and development for how it can maximise the power of the Internet.

They used a best practice strategy they called 'Destroyyourbusiness.com.'

The result: GE have cut its selling and general administration costs by between 28 and 48 per cent - a reduction of between $US7 billion and $US 12 billion from the present $US25 billion.

Welch says the results of that strategy alone will increase GE profits by 50% over the next 2 years.

No matter what the size of your business, you can use a similar strategy. Why not?

Now as Aussies we can either listen to what these Yanks have to say or we can tell them to go pull their head in...

I think they may have something useful to tell us... COMPETE OR PERISH....

I think they're challenging us..... Telling us to wake up....

I think we are more than up to the challenge... But we need to take action on our ideas NOW...
