Program Objective

To develop agents of productivity and performance improvement, culture change and future managers who have both a business mindset and great people coaching skills.

Program Model

The program follows six basic steps.

  2. Learning how to coach rather than manage.
  3. Increasing business literacy.
  4. Improving planning and strategic skills.
  5. Redesigning processes, systems and structures.
  6. Measuring and managing performance.

Program Overview

Day One "Understanding People"

Day one explores the paradigm shift required to create and lead high performance organisations. It exposes participants to the successful business practices of the very best performing organisations and explores how diverse personalities can either enhance or ruin organisational performance. The topics covered include:

  1. Shifting Paradigms: The Psychology of Change.
  2. Understanding the Changing Realities of YOUR Business.
  3. Building Strategies to Improve the Organisation’s Performance.
  4. Exploring Personality Differences and Managing Personality Clashes.
  5. Motivating People.
  6. Finding Effective Rewards.

Day Two "Business Finance and Strategy"

Day two helps participants improve their general business and financial literacy in an entertaining and non-threatening way. It also explores the organisation’s own financial system and the way it impacts each business unit and team. The session includes:

  1. Exploration of the Organisation’s Financial System and Business Model.
  2. Developing Greater Business Finance Knowledge.
  3. Tying Team Member Actions to Profit and Cost Outcomes.
  4. Building Better Business Strategies.
  5. Finding Practical Ways to Reduce Operational Costs.
  6. Keeping focused on the main game of delivering high quality education while building a sustainable education business.

Mid Program Projects

Participants identify one element of their business that could be improved and apply what they have learnt in the program to their chosen problem. Their project can be something as simple as a team performance audit or as complex as designing a new commercial product. The chosen project must focus on improving productivity, increasing efficiencies, saving dollars, improving customer service, improving quality, building teamwork and enhancing organisational performance.

Day Three "Customers and Teamwork"

The focus on day three is the development of a customer mindset, teamwork and new coaching skills. It also provides an opportunity to discuss the project reports. The day includes:

  1. Project Feedback
  2. Shifting Paradigms: Changing How We Think About Customers.
  3. Exploring The Customer Mindset.
  4. Setting Effective Performance and Behaviour Boundaries.
  5. Building Teamwork.
  6. Developing Effective Coaching Skills.

Day Four “Performance Management”

Day four provides more opportunity for project feedback and to focus on the development of effective communication and performance management systems. The day includes:

  1. Project Feedback.
  2. Micro and Macro Support Systems, Structures and Strategies.
  3. Developing an Effective Communication System.
  4. Transferring Skills and Authority.
  5. Exploring Possible Performance Management Systems.
  6. Performance Boundaries.
  7. Dealing Effectively with Poor Performance and Conflict.

Day Five "Innovation and Support”

The final session explores the specifics of how the organisation can support its coaches and help them create a more innovative and competitive business. It also provides an opportunity to re-energise participants and to explore answers to the barriers they face as future change agents and coaches. The day includes:

  1. Understanding Our Institute.
  2. Developing an Innovative and Creative Mindset.
  3. Exploring Proven Ways to Beat the Competition.
  4. Changing the Work Culture for Good.
  5. Developing and Networking a Critical Mass of Coaches.
  6. Designing the Future.

Coaches

The program coaches are Grant Donovan PhD and Leigh Farnell MEd. Picture 2 performance improvement seminars Both coaches have substantial experience and understanding of the business environment in financial services, manufacturing, education, tele-communications and the service industries.

Grant and Leigh also have over 18 years experience helping enhance the performance of managers in many organisations around the world including Advanced Micro Devices, Telstra, Qantas, Motorola, Western Power, Caterpillar, Kimberley-Clarke, Kodak, MIM, BHP, Hunter Douglas, Lockwood Security Products and the Sydney, Hunter, South Western Sydney and New England Intitutes of TAFE.

For every one dollar you invest, you will return at least $28.

Each participant receives a:
